“In October of 2002 our family moved into our dream home. Darrell, his staff and the many Astoria sub-trades made the construction process efficient and they delivered the quality we had expected in an estate home.
We always received responsive and caring service from Astoria. Throughout the construction many decisions are needed. While proactively keeping the project on track, Astoria allowed us to feel like we were in control of decisions, always presenting options and other considerations. Astoria demonstrated a deep commitment to ensuring we got what we wanted. They were always able to find solutions and known sub-trades to execute the work in a timely fashion.
Communication is at the heart of project management and we were always in the loop even when travel had Bill away from the project for extended periods. As a result, we had no surprises and not a single dispute to deal with. It was obvious that Astoria also maintained good relations with all the sub-trades and any problems were promptly addressed. ”
With new home construction it is evitable that touch-ups and follow-ups are required after the move in. Astoria made these activities “painless” by tight coordination of the affected sub-trades and scheduling that minimized disruption to our family. ”

“In August 2002 my house burned and had to be completely demolished. After examining various building contractors, I chose Darrell Haase of Astoria Homes to rebuild. He showed compassion and understanding of my plight and was patient with my indecisions. I really appreciated Darrell realizing it was different to build a house someone had lived in for 19 years as everyone makes adjustments to their home to make it work for them. He also had useful suggestions on many aspects such as space utilization. He gave me names of people who were knowledgeable and great to deal with when it came to the finishing of the house – cabinet makers, flooring, lighting, paint, etc.
Astoria refused to build on the old foundation even though the first inspections deemed it safe. Darrell had a third inspection done and found flaws that would have caused problems in the future. Darrell or his superintendent, Dean, were always more than willing to meet with me at a time or place of my choosing – early morning or late evening and most importantly, the workmanship of the house and all of the finishing is superb.
My house was rebuilt in under 4 months, no easy feat as it was completely developed up and down. It is the same in many ways but the changes made by Astoria make it delightful. A home is a lifetime commitment and Darrell builds a house to which one can commit. I would definitely recommend Astoria Homes to anyone who is building a new house because of their integrity, craftsmanship and dedication to doing the best possible work. ”
